Ketchup
Sorry for the delay. Let’s see if I can make the long story short: First there was one American School, then there were two. Then there was one again, but not the same one as before. Then there was none and then there was one again, but this time it was the same as the first.
First I had a job, then I didn’t. Then I did, for about three weeks. Then I didn’t, for several days, and now I do, but I don’t have a new contract yet.
Got a new place at the beginning of the month — Shan and I are now the proud owners of our own 2-bedroom apartment each. Wahooie! After 8 months of waiting. I got a new fridge and satellite dish, and 2 new wardrobe closet-thingies. Yeah, Moroccan houses are not built with ANY built-in storage space. No closets, no drawers, no cabinets, no nothin’. Except in the kitchen, in which the cabinets are so high I literally can’t reach the bottom of them unless I’m standing in a chair. Needless to say I’ll not be using those.
What else? I adopted some abandoned kittens about 4 ½ weeks ago. There are three—Bubba, Sissy and Paw. They were only about a day old when I got them so had to feed every 2-4 hours, etc. A tiny taste of motherhood. They’re now starting to use the litter box, eat solid food, and clean themselves. Hallelujah!
Ramadan is almost over. I did it for one day and was a cranky bitch. Decided not to do it any more after that. The whole country goes all wonky during Ramadan; the TV schedule changes, the shops don’t open until noon, the banks close at 2:15, you can’t buy booze without a non-Moroccan passport…. It’s all just crazy I tell ya!
Okay, that’s it for now. Will post photos of the new house and kittens soon.
